February is a busy month around here. We celebrate my birthday, Chip’s birthday, our wedding anniversary, and of course Valentines Day. A month full of love for sure. I have to say this has been a busy week especially for me. It has been rather nice as February has been gloomy, snowy, and way too cold for my North Carolina blood.
Every few days my doorbell has been ringing with a lovely surprise to be delivered. So far my husband has sent a dozen yellow roses, (which are my favorite) and a huge vase filled with a mixture of spring flowers. The biggest surprise was a note attached to the bouquet that said he was picking me up Friday at 2:00 for a little getaway for two. So I had two days to wonder where in the world he would be taking me.
Friday arrived. He came home from work early to pick me up and I kept asking the whole time, “Where are you taking me?” but he wouldn’t budge. After about a 40 minute drive we turn into Belhurst Castle. Oh my….I LOVE CASTLES! Belhurst is a real castle dating back to 1888. I was so excited. Chip went all out and reserved not just an ordinary room but the Castle Tower room. It was absolutely amazing!
The first thing we noticed was the rather expansive doors leading into the suite. There was a king-size four poster bed, a lovely sitting room, and another sitting room by the tower stairs looking out of the cutest little tower windows. Then yet another sitting room at the top of the tower where the view was wonderful. The woodwork in this room was extraordinary and the detail is beyond description. As you can see I took many pictures so you can appreciate this detail that you just don’t find in this day and time.
Two white Belhurst robes, a cheese board, a chocolate tray, and a bottle of wine were awaiting us thanks to my thoughtful hubby. I can’t think of a better surprise and a more wonderful way to spend a few days out of the snow and cold. Thank you babe for making our 20th wedding anniversary so special!
