It’s that time of year again! All the stores have been stocking their shelves with all the back to school goodies for children. So this week everyone at The Gingham Patch wanted to join in on the excitement and help welcome the children back to school.
When I was a little girl I remember how exciting it was to go school shopping. My school list then was pretty simple compared to my children’s school list now. My list consisted of mainly pens, pencils, paper, Tupperware lunch box (which is considered vintage now) and the one big thing everyone wanted: the famous Trapper Keeper which would hold “all” your school stuff. Wasn’t it fun being a kid!
With the school theme in mind I began to design our tables at the Farmer’s Market. I started with black fabric, cut school figures out of felt, and attached them along the sides. Across the top of the table I ran a yellow fabric measuring tape to edge the tables. For the centerpiece I took a large coffee can and glued number 2 pencils all the way around, finished it off with ribbon and set it on top of some school books. For a bit of fun the gang at the bakery came up with Tic-Tac-Toe cookie boards and pieces, flowers, butterflies, and alien shortbread cookies. They were a huge hit with the kids and parents!
